Why so many junk comments!?

I switched over to WordPress a few weeks ago… and I am actually surprised of all the junk spam comments I get on a daily basis. When I was on Google Blogger, that very rarely happened.
Any hints or tips you can share with me would be appreciated.
Here’s what I do..set your WP settings so that you have to approve all comments…when someone spams you remove the website/email tags, and edit the comment to say the bare minimum!! LOL! Viola! spam averted, addressed and dealt with! AND….you can reap all the benefits of the random and barely coherent comments…..

Try the Askimet WordPress plugin (http://akismet.com/). It works quite well at keeping my site free from spam comments.
